The second trade Sacrifice at Amazon.com

You can also find more information at Eric Shanowers's Age-of-bronze.com website

I will attempt to actually participate in this one. This is the first one I can easily get to, to read. Both trades are on my bookshelf.

One question for those who are reading Age of Bronze in individual issues:

What kind of material do you have in addition to the comic book pages. I mean I know you have letter's pages which I have always found very interesting in the issues I do have after the first trade. I know he also includes the pronounciation guide, anything else?

Do you have the geneology chart he included in the first trade, or the maps of the region? He also has an extensive bibliography in the first trade, plus a wonderful Afterword that goes into detail as to the development of this project and explains specific choices that he made.

We might have to look around online, or have one of us Trade buyers scan a copy of it.

Also I only have the individual issues for Sacrifice, I would appreciate if any of the trade buyers would be willing to share about what extra material is availabe in the trade, and I will trade you the information he shares in the letter's pages.

* I have emailed Mr. Shanower to see if the Afterword material is available online, or if he would grant us permission to post it here if it isn't. I have also invited him to come by and read our discussion.

I heard back from Eric Shanower. He has given me permission to scan the Afterword from A Thousand Ships and make it available here to facilitate the discussion as long as I agree to take it down at least by the end 2005.  I plan to scan it and put it up before Sept.5, and then take it down by Nov. after our discussion should be completed. He might also come by to read our comments as he is interested in reading people's thoughts on Age of Bronze.

With Eric Shanower's permission I am posting scans of the Afterword in a Thousand Ships. He retains all rights to his work and I will deleting this post after our discussion is complete or the end of 2005, whichever comes first.

The Afterword is no longer necessary to our discussion, so I have deleted the scans as I promised, Mr. Shanower.

Thanks again for participating.

I have the first nine issue collected in trade, and individual issues of #10-20.

I also have the Classics Illustrated versions (as reprinted by Acclaim Books, complete with study guide) of Homer’s The Illiad and The Odyssey which I thought might be fun (and appropriate!) to use as supplements to our discussion.

I thought so too, and he responded so fast and nicely, especially great for my first email with a comic book creator.

I am finally, after 3 aborted attempts, taking my Week-of-Reading vacation.  I will finish Starman (I've been behind Chris and JAAFS since the second week) and start Age of Bronze on Monday.  Huzzah!!!
